Color or Black and White?

The girls found me scrounging around for and laying out some old fabric pieces that could have backdrop potential. They asked if we were taking pictures. A photo shoot was not in my plans for the day but how could I resist willing participation?
I can't decide if I like the color or black and white better. The red is quite bold still, there is something I like about it. I also like the way the texture pops in the black and white. What do you think? Cast your votes!

It's hard to say which is best. They are so good.

I think I like the color ones best although, I wonder what the black and white ones would have looked like with a color filter on them. Would a red filter have contrasted the girls a bit more making them "pop" as much as the background?
What lighting did you use?
I LOVE the back drop!

I like the red in the first one and the black and white close up. I think they get a little lost in the B&W on the first and the red does make it pop. What were you using for lighting? You're linked!

I like the color ones ~ the red is really nice, and the colors of the girls' eyes are great! Nice lighting! What did you use?

I had the room light turned on but the main source of light was coming from two windows. One they were facing and one to their side. For those of you who know my house, they were taken in Evan's room/guest room in the afternoon when the light is strongest in that room. They were up on the bed so the light was directed pretty much right at them. The backdrop was a set of old velvet curtains I bought at Goodwill ages ago.
