Emma was pleased yesterday morning to hear the election results. She has been rooting for Obama. About a month or more ago she had been watching a PBS kids program in the morning at the end of the show she came to me and
requested the TV be turned off (an
unusual request coming from her). She said that her show was done and a show came on about McCain and "that just wasn't good to her". When I asked why "it wasn't good to her" her response was (quite forcefully) that she didn't like some of his ideas. Several weeks after this incident we were having salad, chicken nuggets, and
McCain smiley fries for supper. Emma refused to eat the smiley fries! With the up coming election, politics and critiquing BOTH candidates proposed policies has been a topic of dinner conversation lately and I was beginning to wonder if we had said anything to influence her opinion. After further questioning and discussion we came to the conclusion that she was basing her preference for president on the sound of their names. She just didn't like the sound of McCain's name as well as
Obama's. The moral of the story-if you want your kid to be president of the United States name he or she well!
