Another look at those long eyelashes.

Sick Day

Moms don't usually get a sick day, but it just so happens circumstances worked out that for the most part of the day I am kid-free. Since I have a chest cold, my plan is to read, sip tea, nap, and play in Photo Shop with pictures of this sweetie. Depending how productive I am, you might just see a few more pictures of Miss Peyton pop up on my blog.

She goes home today.
Gonna miss those long lashes and big beautiful eyes.

Peek-a-boo!

To Diane and Sheldon From Peyton

It's fun here.
Getting lots of hugs, kisses, and love.
Also got a cold, but they're taking good care of me.
I miss you and can't wait to see you again.
                                                      Love,
                                                            Peyton

Peyton

This picture was taken back in May
when Peyton came to visit us the first time.
We are so glad to have her back again.

Bath Time

Bath Time is always fun.
Last night, she clapped her hands as soon as she heard the water running.

Quotes

Emma (referring to foster children):
"I think babies are good for us long term."

Rachel (who would like to have a baby sister):
"She's like a dream come true."

Evan (who of course, is the "baby" of our family):
"Mom, can you hold ME?"

Peyton: "Dada, Dada, Dada, Dada, Dada!"
and once
"Uh Mum, Mum, Mum!"

Speed Reader

She'll be a speed reader by the time she leaves here.

As you can see, she simply devours every book that interests her.

Literally.                     Pun intended :)

I'm Coming
Here I am!

Like My New Hairstyle?

 I'm a little confused....
isn't it April 23?
Where's the green grass?
The blossoms on the trees?
I know they were there yesterday.

I think the birds must be confused too.
Hopefully they won't decide to head south again.
And I know our snowman is confused!
Is it time to grill or bake Christmas cookies!!!????

WARNING!
The following post contains graphic photos of cute, cuddly, fluffy, baby chicks.
Viewer discretion is advised.

I think we are already in love with a few.

Fresh from the incubator.

Several have markings that remind me of chipmunks.

Cute, little, peeps sure do make big, ugly, messes.

Really hoping this one is a hen.
Emma was wanting a black hen named Jackie and this is the only black one in the batch. It sure is easy to spot in the crowd.

Meaning of Life...

...Naked a man comes from his mother’s womb,
and as he comes, so he departs.
He takes nothing from his labor
that he can carry in his hand.

...All share a common destiny—the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not.

For the living know that they will die,
but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
and even the memory of them is forgotten.
Their love, their hate
and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part
in anything that happens under the sun.

...Remember your Creator

in the days of your youth

before the days of trouble come-

...Then man goes to his eternal home
and mourners go about the streets.

...and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

-From the Book of Ecclesiastes

Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son...”

My Girls

How did she get to 7 so fast?

And how did she get to 9?

Rachel's Birthday

To celebrate her birthday,
Rachel wanted to invite one of her best friends to stay for a sleep over.
She invited Bethany and they had a blast.

We took Bethany and the family over to the Wild Side for some party fun.

Then we had DIY cupcakes, complete with unicorn toppers, sprinkles, and whatever else sugary and sweet they could think of to top off the cupcakes.

Emma's Birthday

We made "Mexican flowers" for party decorations.

This was our first attempt at cake pops.
They were such a big hit we might have to try out some more recipes. The party crowd.

The make your own fruit kabobs were also a hit with the party crowd.

The pinata.
Emma has wanted one for several years now.
Guess it was a good year to do one, since the weather was beautiful.
I think in the last 9 years, this was the first year we could have done an outdoor party.
In fact, last year the weather was so lousy, at least one of the girls stayed over night and we had unexpected guests. A truck slid and flipped over on the road in front of our property. The young man and his fiance spent part of the evening with us waiting for the state troopers and then a ride from relatives.
I was thankful for the improvement in the weather and for no unexpected guests.
