Mother's Day Pics

Sorry for the blogging lapse for those who have bothered to be checking. We were glad to have Ken back and were enjoying our weekend with him before he had to head out on the road again. So now we have lots of updating to do. I'll start with Mother's Day pictuers. The girls wore their hats to church and recieved quite a few positive comments! Well sounds like nap time is over and so is my blog session. More to follow later...

Computing

Emma using her computer right before she packed it for the big stick hunting expedition. Hope Daddy is ready to tackle that mountain. Grandma has already made and delivered a new yellow coat for Pooh Bear. He will be all set for that chilly weather.

Plans For Daddy

The girls wanted to post a picture for Daddy and say we love you! Glad your coming home soon.

Emma has big ideas for Daddy when he gets back. According to her plan they are going on a hunting trip on top of a mountain. They will make a big tent and build a house on top of this mountain. They will be hunting for sticks and since it is "a little bit chilly" Mom and Rachel should stay home. However, Pooh Bear will accompany them dressed in a coat to be made by Grandma. Emma has already called her Grandmother to inform her of the grand hunting expedition and has packed her own laptop "pooter" to take along. As far as I know no reservations have been made... yet.

Predator and Vandals

It appears as though there is a vandal on the loose. I am sure someone of the furry nature. Two nights ago someone or something bent over my shepherds hook holding the wild bird feeder and hummingbird feeder and in the process broke the hummingbird feeder. We know that deer have been visiting our bird feeder after dark for almost nightly snacks. We caught them in the act and have them on video as evidence. But I am not sure they would have bent the hook compltely to the ground. Maybe a bear? Guess we have to take up surveillance again. Something else has also been preying on my newly planted flower gardens. I don't mind a little eaten birdseed. But my beatiful freshly planted hostas and flowers are another story! Whatever it was nibbled some flower tops and chomped all the hostas down to little stubs and even uprooted one!

Big Stuff

Our little movie star thinks she's big stuff these days. Trying to keep up with big sister and getting into trouble has been keeping her busy while Daddy is gone.

Blog Problem Fixed

The blog problem I was having with posting photos has been solved. I was sizing the picture files too small.

Missing Daddy

Several weeks ago Daddy helped Emma make her "house" it must have been a big construction job. They both look tuckered out. Lois those little clamps you left behind worked so well for keeping the roof in place Ken picked up a pair for building future houses and tents.

Ken has been in Mexico/Arizona since Friday and we miss him but are doing ok. Emma will comment occasionally that she "keeps missing her Daddy". I think she has gotten used to the fact that even though his truck is parked in the garage he isn't here. The first couple times I opened the garage door and she saw his truck she would exclaim "Daddys home Daddys home!" I think she finally believes me when I tell her that a friend picked him up and that Daddy did not walk to work.

Blog Problem

I appear to be having trouble with posting my photos. It seems that even if I choose to size my photo as large or medium it always posts a small picture. I e-mailed blog support but have not gotten an answer yet. Can anyone help me???

Pooh The Gardener

We did more planting today. I got the hostas from Mom, pansies, lambs ear and an Oriental poppy all in the ground. Hopefully we will get a good soaking rain to give them a good start. We are ready for another break from outdoor work. Everything takes extra planning and effort when your helpers are a 3 year old and 15 month old. Even poor Pooh Bear is getting tired of all the gardening. I caught him in my garden basket taking a snooze. I think Emma must have took pity on him and laid him down for a nap.

Color Change

To answer a question reguarding my color change. I did it because when I set up Mom's blog she liked the blue that I had been using. And with going back and forth between her blog and mine I determined that it might better for us to have differnt templates. So I am trying out this one.

Lazy Sunday

The girls and I miss Ken who left Friday on a business trip. But, otherwise are having a lazy Sunday. This morning we went to sunday school. All three of us stayed in Emma's class. Emma was being a bit clingy since Daddy has been gone and to top it off forgot to bring Pooh Bear with her. So we enjoyed a bible story, coloring and snack in Miss Ida's class this morning. After sunday school we skipped out on our church and went to a neighboring church to see a puppet show they had in place of their regular service. Emma liked the show except for the bear .Who I have to say was a rather large impressive bear! Rachel seemed to like it too until she fell asleep. Then we headed to Pa's house for dinner. Which is where we still are. I just heard Pa out in the kitchen getting ice cream for the girls. So I'd better go investigate before things get too out of hand...

I should have her site fine tuned and ready for your viewing pleasure by Sunday evening. Now, just what are those brothers of mine doing with their time? If only they would blog we could know what was happening with them, their families, "new friends" and eye surgeries gone awry without having to make harrasing phone calls.

Tattoo Artist

What happens when you leave your three year old alone with markers for five minutes while you make a phone call? She decides to join the circus as the tattoo lady!
At least Mommy was senible enough to only let her have WASHABLE markers.

Big Walker!

Well little Rachel has finally decided that walking gets her places faster and quiter than crawling. This past week she made the switch to completely walking. This is nice for outdoor play. Watching her crawl across gravel and concrete floors was almost too much for Mommy to bear! Now I just need to keep a closer eye on her she can be much more sneaky on her feet than she was on her knees! Her latest form of entertainment is ripping off little pieces of toilet paper and dropping it in the toilet. Yesterday Emma informed me (thankfully before she flushed) that Rachel had dropped an orange crayon in the potty. Hopefully from now on she will just stick to toilet paper. I wouldn't want an episode invovling a bar of soap would I Julia?

The Yard Crew

Like I said we have been working hard. Even Rachel was determined to move that dirt! Just what makes that little old ant...

Finally Rain!

I was glad to see some rain! We have been doing yardwork and gardening around here like crazy. Most of the work ironically, seemed to involve moving dirt and rocks from one part of our property to another. Step one dig up sod to make a flower bed. Step two haul sod to the back of the yard to fill in holes (there are lots of them the groundhogs will not be happy). Step three move topsoil from the hole dug for our fire-pit to the new flower bed. Over and over again! But thanks to my friend Jencene and her friend Dawn I had lots of flowers and herbs to plant in those beds. And hopefully this summer we will have lovely flowers and tasty herbs.

Maybe it will rain again tomorrow and I can download and post some photos of my hard working family.
