I was glad to see some rain! We have been doing yardwork and gardening around here like crazy. Most of the work ironically, seemed to involve moving dirt and rocks from one part of our property to another. Step one dig up sod to make a flower bed. Step two haul sod to the back of the yard to fill in holes (there are lots of them the groundhogs will not be happy). Step three move topsoil from the hole dug for our fire-pit to the new flower bed. Over and over again! But thanks to my friend Jencene and her friend Dawn I had lots of flowers and herbs to plant in those beds. And hopefully this summer we will have lovely flowers and tasty herbs.
Debbie if you are reading this could you send me your pesto recipe?
Maybe it will rain again tomorrow and I can download and post some photos of my hard working family.

Debbie's Pesto Recipe
4 cups basil
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup pine nuts (or walnuts)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
2 cloves of garlic
Mix all but the cheese in the blender until mushy. Add the cheese and blend again.
I use walnuts or a combination of the two nuts. It also brings out the flavor more if you lightly toast the nuts before adding to the mixture.
I freeze in ice cube trays and then store in the freezer in freezer bags.
I just planted some basil yesterday. Enjoy!
