Pregnancy Update
Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor. I will try to give a somewhat brief update. Since I had been having some minor spotting and some cramps the last several weeks he decided to do a pelvic exam at which time he thought my cervix might be slightly opened (not a good thing when you are only 17 weeks pregnant. He immediately sent me for an ultrasound. Since I knew we might find out if the baby is a boy or girl and that Ken was working yesterday at a job site out past the hospital I gave him a call on his cell phone to see if he would be able to make it to the hospital for the ultrasound. As it turned out he was just leaving the job site and was heading in the direction of the hospital. It also turned out that when I called him, he was at about the only spot on that road that had a good cell signal. When my name was called to go in for the ultrasound Ken still hadn't arrive and I was worried he would miss the whole thing but, just as I was telling them that my husband was on his way and would be looking for me he came down the hall! We couldn't have timed everything that well if we would have tried it ourselves! So anyway, the final verdict after the ultrasound and my doctor consulting with a high risk doctor is that my cervix is closed and long (both good) but I have a low laying placenta which is what they believe to be the cause of the bleeding. That means trying to take it even more easy than I have, seeing the doc in 2 1/2 weeks and another ultrasound in 6 weeks. Oh, and by the way we were able to see the sex of the baby and the technician is 100% sure it is a BOY! We are happy, Emma is thrilled, and Rachel is disappointed. She claims boys are not nice and not allowed in our house! I am sure by the time he comes home she will change her mind.

You'll have to tell little Miss Rachel that Asa and Noah will be very dissappointed if they are not allowed in her house. Although, Asa might be just as happy to camp outside at your place...that's what he talks about most when discussing our next trip!
Congrats on the boy! Maybe this means I'll get a girl on our next try...gotta keep up the symetry!

I'm so happy for you that everything turned out fine and that it's a BOY! Do you think drs like to throw you into panic like that on purpose??? Maybe it's a sick little game they like to play. What a relief that everything looks good. Keep taking care of yourself and take it easy.

I am relieved that everything seems to be fine now. Hopefully the rest of the preg. will be better. It's a baby boy. Congratulations! Now I know what to buy/make.
